In the Chicago area, pressure washing prices are around $250 to $300 for the average 2,000-square-foot home. While homeowners can buy or rent power washers from many home improvement stores, hiring a pressure-washing professional can actually save you time and help avoid mistakes caused by using too much pressure to clean the dirt or algae.Companies that specialize in exterior cleaning also have the right safety equipment and safe cleaning solutions to reach high places or work around weird angles to ensure the job is done right. Don’t forget the deckIf you’re sprucing up for spring, you may also want to have your deck professionally washed and sealed, which will improve its appearance as well as protect it from the elements. Rain, snow and salt can eat through the wood and cause your deck to deteriorate, so it’s important to keep it clean, Ward says. The cost to have a deck pressure-washed and treated is about $2 per square foot in Chicagoland. Most deck treatments will last about a year, he says. Staining will keep your deck looking good and protect it from Chicago-area weather for about three years, he says. For longer-lasting protection, you could also have your deck stained, which costs about double the price of cleaning and treating alone, Ward says. Nationally, members reported spending about $1,053 on deck sealing and staining last year. crown pressure washing

Pressure washing death

NEVER PRESSURE WASH YOUR HOME

This may sound like a strange statement coming from a pressure washing company, but it is the truth. The first thing people think of when they want their house cleaned is to have it pressure washed, but the surfaces on the exterior of your home are not made to withstand the incredible forces of high pressure water being shot at point blank only inches away. Paint can be blasted off, screens can be shredded, vinyl siding damaged or knocked loose, double pane windows can have their seals broken causing fogging between the two layers of glass.

High-pressure water can also be forced through your window and door seals sending water inside your home to soak your furniture, carpet, or hardwood floors. Another problem with blasting away the dirt on your home by pressure washing,is that you will be forcing water in behind the vinyl siding, Hardi plank, or cracks in the mortar on brick homes causing mold problems within your walls that you may not even be aware of.

While pressure washing poses great risk to your home the threat of personal injury should not be overlooked. Each year thousands of people are injured and even a large number of deaths occur while pressure washing. The pressure that can be achieved by most pressure washing machines are capable of great damage and can even cut into lumber. Cuts, abrasions, and even water injection injuries are common with the use of a pressure washer.

Since the effectiveness of high-pressure water diminishes rapidly after the water leaves the wand, people resort to reaching the high areas of a home by trying to wash from ladders or by getting onto the roof. Falls are very common while attempting to pressure wash a home and often result in catastrophic injuries.

The sad thing is, most people believe that, even with all the risk associated with high pressure, to clean a home’s exterior all you need is a pressure washer and some bleach.

As a note, we clean homes with 6 gpm at around 50~60 psi with superior results. Another false belief is the bleach. Bleach has no cleaning abilities on its own. It may kill mold, but it does nothing to break the bond the mold has on the sides of your home nor does it do anything to remove the pollution, dirt, and other grime that is attacking your home. That is why so many DYIers and pressure washing companies that attempt to use bleach as a cleaner have to use high pressure to blast all this filth off your home.

Sea to Summit Pressure Washing llc will never use high pressure to clean your home or property. Our low pressure or what is often called Soft Washing technique uses specially designed house washing soaps and detergents mixed with warm water that is applied and thoroughly rinsed with low pressure water.

The pressure we use on your home could be compared closer to garden hose pressure rather than the 2,000 ~ 4,000 psi typically used by most DYIers or professional power wash companies.

Since we are not depending on high pressure to do our cleaning, we can safely stand on the ground and clean at heights up to 50’. The results of our plant safe detergent and low pressure cleaning are astounding and far superior to the results you will get from the typical pressure washing methods.
